Eggcellent entries in the Easter Egg Decoration Competition

Oak Class Victorian Day
Fri 29 Mar 2019Yesterday, Oak Class experienced a really enjoyable and informative Victorian Day at Perlethorpe Outdoor Education Centre. They experienced life as a Victorian child beginning with lessons in the classroom. They learnt how to write on slate and also how to write using a pen dipped in ink. They had a very tricky maths lesson dealing with money in pounds, shillings and pence and then they had playtime with Victorian toys. In the afternoon, they explored the local Victorian church and graveyard.

Ashfield District Basketball Champions
Wed 27 Mar 2019Congratulations to our Upper Key Stage 2 Basketball team who competed in the district finals. They played three games, winning two and losing one. They displayed good sportsmanship throughout the evening and finished as Ashfield District Champions. Another tremendous sporting achievement for our school. Well done everyone! -
Chestnut Fairy Tale Day
Fri 22 Mar 2019Our Reception Class had a wonderful Fairy Tale Day in school this week. They came dressed as their favourite character, acted out some traditional stories and played charades. They also baked and decorated their gingerbread men before going on a gingerbread man hunt in their outdoor learning area.

It's a Vet's Life for Birch Class
Fri 22 Mar 2019A big thank you to Kryzstof who talked to Birch Class about his life as a vet. He explained how he used his senses to help him investigate sick animals and work out what the problem might be. The children had a go at listening through his stethoscope and they used a machine that detects microchips in dogs. They also tried on theatre gowns, masks and hats and felt like real vets, ready to carry out an operation.

Twycross Zoo visit for Birch and Hazel Classes
Thu 28 Feb 2019The children in Birch and Hazel Classes had an exciting day at Twycross Zoo on Wednesday. They were able to experience a wide range of animals and learn about different habitats and food chains as well as handle some of the smaller creatures. -
Willow and Elm Classes Hinduism Day
Fri 01 Feb 2019Elm and Willow Classes enjoyed a very interesting Hinduism Day on Tuesday. They learnt about India and the story of Rama and Sita. They dressed up in traditional Indian costume and practised Bollywood dancing and they also created some beautiful Rangoli patterns.

Birch Class - our polar explorers!
Fri 01 Feb 2019On Wednesday, Birch Class became polar explorers. They searched for missing animals and put them back in their original habitat. They designed and made their own polar animals out of marshmallows and they carried out an investigation to find the warmest gloves to wear in cold conditions. They also practised camping out in the arctic. The weather on the day certainly made things seem more realistic!

Marvellous Medicine for Hazel Class
Fri 18 Jan 2019Hazel Class have enjoyed a very exciting week with three visitors helping them with their Marvellous Medicine topic. On Tuesday, Dr. Brown visited the children to tell them all about her role. The children had a great time trying out some of her equipment and asking lots of questions. Then, on Thursday, two paramedics, Kerry and Dave, arrived in the playground with their ambulance. They talked to the children about their job, gave them a tour of the ambulance and let them explore some of their equipment. A big thank you to Kerry, Dave and Dr. Brown and also to Mrs. Donaldson, who arranged the paramedic visit.
