Welcome To Year 5  

 Ash Class!

The teacher in Year 5 is Mrs Eves. 

Our topic this term is......

'Beneath the colossal canopy!'

This term, Year 5 will be exploring the fascinating topic of the Rainforest. The children will learn where rainforests are found in the world, the different layers of the forest and the amazing plants and animals that live there. We will also discuss why rainforests are important and how we can help to protect them. 

 Our English focus this half term will be 'Alma' and 'High diving Giraffes'

We will explore the film Alma in English and look at the film's creepy atmosphere, characters and themes. Through this the children will develop their inference skills, descriptive language and ability to build suspense in their own narratives.

Secondly we will explore the short film' High Diving giraffes' . We will explore our imaginative storytelling and focus on character's thought and feelings. 

Key information:

P.E. lessons will usually take place on Monday when the other half of the class are swimming.

Maths and spelling homework will be sent home on Friday and should be returned to school no later than the following Friday. 

Spelling words will be tested Friday.
