Hathersage 2025!
Wednesday 5th February
We have arrived! After we spent some time exploring the centre, we headed off for our activities. The children enjoyed building rafts, having a duck race and doing some orienteering. In the evening, after our evening meal, we had a night walk where we enjoyed looking at the different constellations we could see in the sky!
Thursday 6th February
We were blessed with a beautiful day for our Stanage Edge walk today! The children showed lots of resilience and determination to complete the challenging 5 hour trek. Lots of highlights along the way and a brilliant view from Stanage Edge itself. In the evening, we sat by the campfire and the children shared some achievements from the trip that they were proud of and also spoke about other people from the group they were proud of for various reasons too. And what is a campfire without toasted marshmallows?!
Friday 7th February
Once we were all packed up, we said goodbye to the staff at St Michael’s and set off to Treak Cliff Cavern. Underground, we saw lots of different rock formations including Blue John, calcite, flowstone and lots of amazing stalactites and stalagmites! After lunch, we completed the final page of our Hathersage diaries and had a mini Star of the Week assembly. Well done to our Y4 star, Oliver and Headteacher’s star, Lucy! All the children have done themselves proud. Now for a well-deserved rest!
