WCIT - Recorder (Y3)
In the Autumn term, children in Year 3 learn how to play the recorder.
The recorder is a great versatile instrument. It is easy to make an initial sound on, it's cheap to buy and maintain, there are various sizes you can learn and the skills are transferable to other instruments too! Not to mention the important life skills that are learnt through learning an instrument as well as the joy of making music itself!
In lessons, children learn the correct technique to ensure they make a clear and stable sound, learn how to read musical notation and learn to play a range of different pieces including the chance to play some solos, harmonies and add movement too!
At the end of the term, they perform all they have learnt to parents in a short assembly.
After this, children have the option of joining the school Recorder Club.
