Ash
Welcome To Year 5
Ash Class!
The teacher in Year 5 is Mrs Eves.
Our topic this term will be......
'World War 2!'
This term, the children will be learning about the impact of WW2 in Britain. World War II was a global war from 1939 to 1945 between two sides: the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, Japan) and the Allies (Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, France). It began when Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland, and involved many countries worldwide. The war ended with an Allied victory and the deaths of millions of people.
Our class text this half term will be 'Gamer' by Chris Bradford and 'Letters from the Lighthouse' by Emma Carroll.
The first adventure is Chris Bradford's action-packed dystopian trilogy. Street kid Scott jumps at the chance to be a Virtual Kombat gamer. If he can battle his way up the ranks, the ultimate prize will be his. But then his friend Kate goes missing in the battle arena, and Scott's dream turns into a nightmare …
Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll is a historical mystery set during World War II, following twelve-year-old Olive and her younger brother Cliff as they are evacuated from bombing-ridden London to the Devon coast. While living with the gruff lighthouse keeper, Mr. Ephraim, Olive discovers a coded message in her missing sister Sukie's coat that suggests Sukie's disappearance is linked to a dangerous secret in the seaside town.
