  • District Sports

    Tue 14 Jun 2022

On Tuesday, children from KS2 took part in the annual District Sports competition at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village. Fourteen schools across the district were in attendance, ready to compete in a range of sports for the prestigious Roger Hull trophy. Throughout the afternoon, the children represented Underwood brilliantly: they demonstrated an excellent attitude and collective team spirit that they should be very proud of. Out of the small schools in attendance, Underwood came first and won by 5 points! The trophy is returning to Underwood for the second time in a row! Fantastic! See below for some action shots:

On Wednesday 27th April, children from Year 5 and 6 represented our school in a cross country race at Florence Nightingale Academy. The event was huge as around 350 children across the district took part. The children from Underwood represented their school extremely well; they portrayed an excellent attitude with a high level of determination. They should be really proud of themselves. Tue 29 Mar 2022 P.Wise

Today has been a very busy and a lot of fun. Firstly, I would like to thank Mrs Hunt and Mr. Lindsey-Hill for judging the Easter Egg Decorating Competition. The children's efforts were amazing and they should all be proud of themselves. Please see the photos below.

Once again I would like to thank all the parents for there generous donations with both raffles. We have made  a massive £764 which will go into the school fund. The money FIS raises helps subsidise school visits, the pantomime, buying book worm books, sports kits.

    Tue 15 Mar 2022 P.Wise

    Time Travelling- Southwell Minster

On Wednesday 9th March, Year 5 and 6 had a fabulous day Time Travelling at Southwell Minster. The day was packed full of exciting activities from beginning to end and over the day the children gained a broad understanding of the Christian faith and its key values.  A particular favourite activity for the children was learning to sing in the cathedral choir. As well as learning to change the pitch of their voices, some children dressed up in the choir robes. This was great fun!  We saw some excellent artwork too and enjoyed learning about what each piece meant. It was a fabulous day, enjoyed by all.

  • World Book Day

    Thu 03 Mar 2022 P.Wise

On 3rd March, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of World Book Day – with the message for all children ‘you are a reader‘! The day was filled with lots of exciting, celebratory ways to promote reading for pleasure on World Book Day, and all-year round. We would like to thank the children for dressing up and for  bring in their  favourite books.  Also, I would like to thank the children for bringing books they no longer require. During the day, we had a story swap and where a teacher from another class read a story to someone else’s class. ( I  very much enjoyed reading a story to Foundation Stage).

  • Foundation Visit Mansfield Museum

    Wed 23 Feb 2022 P.Wise

Chestnut Class visited Mansfield Museum on Wednesday 23rd February. They were able to play with some old and new toys and games. They looked at a very old doll that had ‘real’ hair and went on a hunt round the Museum looking for hidden toys. They had a fantastic time and the teacher commented on how well behaved our children were. Fantastic!

  • Rock and Stars Day

    Wed 23 Feb 2022 P.Wise

I would like to congratulate all the children and staff for dressing up as Rock Stars today. You all looked amazing! This theme day was to generate some enthusiasm for the children to use Time Table Rock Stars ( T.T.R.S. ). This web based software is to help the children learn their multiplication tables, where they get the opportunity to learn to work with accuracy and speed. By the end of Year 4 the children need to know all their multiplication tables. Multiplication tables are important as they help the children with many aspects of mathematics. We are going to be giving certificates out during our Achievement  Assembly for children who have put a great deal of effort into T.T.R.S.

Please enjoy the selection of photos from our exciting day.

A big thank you to everyone who donated gifts for our Harvest Table. Reverend Stevenson blessed the food and led a Harvest-themed Teams assembly in school. The gifts have now been passed on to the Selston Food Bank.

  • Hathersage Day 2 - Padley Gorge

    Thu 07 Oct 2021 P. Wise

We have had a fantastic day today. We caught the train to Padley Gorge, where we visited Padley Chapel and learnt about the sad story of the Padley Martyrs.  We trecked back to Hathersage, pausing to admire the scenic views, climbing a very steep incline plane and also creating our own forest art. After scrubbing our boots, we had pizza, salad and treacle sponge. Finally, we finished the evening with the film Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
