  • Kingswood Colomendy - Day 4

    Thu 21 Sep 2017

Another great day in North Wales (although a little bit wet this morning!).

Everyone is safe and well and the children have enjoyed another action-packed day!

Wake up call was 7.00am and we had to wake quite a few children this morning. Breakfast was lovely once again - cereal followed by bacon, eggs, grilled tomato and toast. They will all have high expectations of breakfast back home in the future!

Dorm inspection was amazing once again. For the first time ever, one dorm has scored full marks all week. A photo of perfection will appear on the website soon. All dorms have been kept to a very high standard throughout the week leaving nothing for the Kingswood cleaning staff to do!

Activities today have included canoeing, fencing, climbing, abseiling, frisbee golf and the vertical play pen. Once again lots of great personal qualities on display. Tonight the children got dressed up and had a great time dancing in the disco.

Tomorrow, the children will take part in orienteering and low ropes and then, after lunch, the adventure ends and we return home. We should arrive back between 4.30pm - 5.00pm.

Photographs of all of our adventure will be placed on the website next week. You'll be amazed at what the children have achieved - we are so proud of all of them.

Good night to everyone back home - see you soon!

  • Kingswood Colomendy - Day 3

    Wed 20 Sep 2017

Everyone is safe and well here in North Wales as we end Day 3 of our Kingswood adventure...

This morning, the children woke up at 7.00am and enjoyed another lovely breakfast - cereal followed by sausage, beans, hash browns and toast. Dorm inspection was even better than yesterday with the lowest score being 9 / 10. No doubt they will all keep up this good work in their bedrooms back home!

Activities throughout today included canoeing, fencing, bush craft, buggy building, nightline and Jacob's Ladder. This evening the Year 6 children went on the night walk and the Year 5 children took part in the mini-Olympics. There were many great personal qualities on display once again including teamwork, determination, perseverance and resilience.

Everyone is being well fed throughout the day. For lunch there was a choice of fish fingers or chicken nuggets together with chips and peas. For dinner, we had a choice of beef and vegetable pie, leek and potato pie or macaroni cheese.

Lots more activities to look forward to tomorrow. Good night to everyone back home!

  • Kingswood Colomendy - Day 2

    Tue 19 Sep 2017

What a wonderful day in sunny Wales...

Everyone is safe and well here and they have all had an action-packed day.

The children woke up between 6.00am and 7.00am and started the day with a lovely breakfast. A choice of cereals, a cooked breakfast and toast helped to give everyone plenty of energy at the start of the day. Before the activities began, we had our first dorm inspections. One room achieved 10 out of 10 which is unknown for the first inspection - I'll leave you to guess whether it was a boys' dorm or a girls' dorm!

Activities today included The Leap of Faith, the Giant Zipwire, archery, lazer quest and problem-solving in the woods. Everyone is working well as a team, supporting each other in their challenges.

Lunch today was pizza, wedges and homemade soup and dinner was a choice of roast chicken or pork together with roast potatoes and vegetables. There is always a salad option too.

Tonight the Year 6 children took part in mini-olympics and the Year 5 children went on a night walk. They are all tucked up in bed now and are no doubt looking forward to another great day tomorrow.

Goodnight to everyone back at home. More news tomorrow night.

  • Kingswood Colomendy - Day 1

    Mon 18 Sep 2017

    The Kingswood adventure begins...

We arrived in Wales just after 2.00pm and the children settled quickly into their dorms. Great teamwork making their beds - probably the quickest we've ever seen! After a tour of the centre, we had a lovely dinner before embarking upon the first activity. Two groups went caving whilst the other two took part in a range of problem-solving activities. This was followed by singing around the campfire where the children could also try a toasted marshmallow. Unfortunately the Welsh rain set in towards the end of the session so we all ended up rather wet. Good job the next activity was having a shower!

The children are now all tucked up in bed and very nearly quiet. Lots to look forward to tomorrow.

Good night everyone in Underwood. More news tomorrow night.
