  • Hathersage - Day 4

    Thu 05 Oct 2017

Everyone is safe and well here in Hathersage. The time is flying by!

The children had another good sleep and another delicious breakfast - scrambled egg, beans and toast as well as the usual choice of cereal.

After breakfast we walked to the station where we waited for a train for twenty minutes before realising there was a train strike today! Never mind, we decided to walk to Padley instead. At Padley we learnt about the Padley Martyrs and looked at the quarry before making our way back to Hathersage.

We went to the Little John pub again for our dinner before settling down for Film Night tonight - we enjoyed watching Chicken Run.

Lots to look forward to tomorrow before we return back home. We are due back at 4.15pm.

Good night to everyone back home. Sleep well - plenty of washing to do tomorrow night!

  • Hathersage - Day 3

    Wed 04 Oct 2017

Everyone is safe and well here in Hathersage. We've had another wonderful day.

The children slept well and woke up to a breakfast of cereal followed by bacon, spaghetti, hash browns and toast. Today's activities were orienteering and dry stone walling. The children worked hard as a team to build the wall and they displayed good map work skills whilst orienteering.

We went to the pub for dinner so there was a wide choice on the menu - all healthy of course (pizza, burgers, fish and chips !).

Tonight was our Talent Show Night. Lots of talent on display including singing, dancing, jokes and card tricks. Our winner this year is Charlie A with a card trick which amazed everyone. Runners-up were Ugne, Olivia, Amelia M and Alexcia -Grace with their song and dance routine.

All of the children are tucked up in bed now, looking forward to another exciting day. Good night to everyone back home. Sleep well. More news tomorrow night.

  • Hathersage - Day 2

    Tue 03 Oct 2017

All is well here in Hathersage!

The children had an excellent sleep and woke up to a lovely breakfast - cereal and a choice of beans on toast or scrambled egg on toast.

Today was our visit to the historic village of Eyam. We toured many of the famous locations - the plague cottages, the church, the boundary stone and the stocks (unfortunately we forgot to take some rotten tomatoes).

After lunch, we walked back to Hathersage over the moor - the weather staying fine but rather windy.

Back at the centre we had a gorgeous dinner - chicken casserole, new potatoes, carrots and peas followed by apple crumble and custard. We were going to have a quiz tonight but ran out of time. The children are now all tucked up in bed ready for another good sleep.

Good night to everyone back home - sleep well. More news tomorrow night.

  • Hathersage - Day 1

    Mon 02 Oct 2017

Everyone is safe, well and happy here in Hathersage. We've had a wonderful first day!

After settling into St. Michael's Centre, we took part in the new village trail, identifying different parts of Hathersage and making sketches at the church. We've made some wonderful sketches of the gargoyles.

We've had a lovely tea and everyone ate well - lasagne, salad and garlic bread followed by treacle sponge pudding!

The children have started to write their postcards which they will finish and send tomorrow. Hopefully, they will arrive home before us!!

Tonight we went on a night walk with our torches which all the children loved and now it's time for bed. Lots to look forward to tomorrow as we visit Eyam.

More news tomorrow night - goodnight and sleep well to everyone back home.
