  • Hathersage - Day 4

    Thu 11 Oct 2018

    Good evening Underwood,

Another great day in Hathersage! Everyone is fine and well. We've had a really busy and enjoyable day. After breakfast, we put on our walking boots and headed to Hathersage Station where we took a short train journey to Grindleford. First we visited Padley Chapel and the ruins of the manor house and then we climbed the incline plain to reach Surprise View, where we had our lunch. After lunch, we walked to the woodland where we used natural materials to create some artwork. There was a good range of different creative designs. After that, we walked back to Hathersage.

We visited the Little John pub again to have another delicious dinner and now we are having Movie Night in the centre.

We are looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow before we finally return home.

Good night Underwood. See you tomorrow!

  • Hathersage - Day 3

    Wed 10 Oct 2018

    Good evening from Hathersage,

Everyone is safe and well and we've had another wonderful day. The weather has been amazing. Today we visited the historic village of Eyam. After a short journey, we arrived at the museum in Eyam where we learnt about the past. We then looked at different features in the village such as the old stocks - we tried them out but obviously in the olden days we wouldn't have been in them because we are far too well- behaved!

We also explored the church and then after lunch we hiked back to the centre over Eyam Moor.

For dinner, we had shepherd's pie followed by apple crumble and then this evening we tested our general knowledge with a quiz night. Everyone is getting ready for bed now. Another exciting day tomorrow.

    Goodnight Underwood. Sleep well.

  • Hathersage - Day 2

    Tue 09 Oct 2018

    Good evening Underwood,

What a beautiful day here in Hathersage! Everyone is safe and well. After a good night's sleep, the children woke up to a lovely breakfast. Today's activities included orienteering and a river study. The children proved to be very skilful on the orienteering course and they certainly got plenty of exercise. Whilst pond dipping in the river, we saw some amazing crayfish - they were enormous. Good job we had our wellies on otherwise they may have nibbled our toes!

We had our tea out at the Little John and then this evening we had an amazing talent show. The judges found it very hard to decide upon the winner - we'll let you know the outcome when we return!

The children are back in bed now and are fast asleep, looking forward to the visit to Eyam tomorrow.

Sleep well everyone - more news tomorrow night.

  • Hathersage - Day 1

    Mon 08 Oct 2018

    Good evening from Hathersage,

We've arrived safe and sound. Everyone has been kitted out in their outdoor gear and they have settled into their dorms.

This afternoon, we went on the village trail and sketched gargoyles at the church. The staff cooked a delicious lasagne for tea followed by chocolate pudding and custard. This evening, the weather was perfect for our night walk and now the children are all tucked up in bed and are drifting off to sleep, re-charging their batteries for an action-packed day ahead.

    Goodnight Underwood!

  • Hazel Class - Pumpkin Soup Cafe

    Fri 05 Oct 2018

A big thank you to Hazel Class who opened the doors of their café to their parents on Wednesday. There was a choice of delicious soups which the children made and served to their families. Thank you also to Mrs. Brudzinski and her team for organising the event.
