  • Hathersage - Day 4

    Thu 20 Oct 2016

A very tiring but enjoyable day!

We climbed aboard the train this morning and travelled to Grindleford. We visited Padley Chapel and then faced the challenge of climbing up the Inclined Plane. A tough climb but everyone managed it. Next, we did some Andy Goldsworthy art in the woods before walking back to Hathersage.

We dined out again for dinner (leading the high life!) at Little John and then relaxed at the end of the day watching the film 'Dog Hotel.'

The children are all fast asleep now and are no doubt dreaming about Treak Cliff Cavern and Peveril Castle where we will be spending Day 5 before returning to Underwood at 4.15pm tomorrow.

    Good night Underwood!

  • Hathersage - Day 3

    Wed 19 Oct 2016

    Another eventful day!

Today's activities were orienteering and dry stone walling conservation work. The children were very handy with the maps and enjoyed running to all of the different locations on the orienteering course. They then loved re-building the stone wall - great teamwork for both activities.

We dined out today at the Little John!

Tonight, we held our talent show. There was an amazing range of acts including singing, dancing, comb-playing, card tricks, jokes and gymnastics - what a talented bunch! (Ava won with her rendition of Edelweiss and Isla came second playing the comb!).

    More news tomorrow. Goodnight Underwood.

  • Hathersage - Day 2

    Tue 18 Oct 2016

We've had a lovely (though a bit wet) day today. We visited the plague village of Eyam where we learnt about the history of the village during the days of the plague. We then walked back to Hathersage over the moors. We arrived back at the centre, wet but happy, and enjoyed a lovely cup of hot chocolate. For dinner, the children have eaten chicken casserole followed by apple crumble and custard.

Tonight is quiz night so the children are competing against the staff team. Who will win??

More news tomorrow. Good night Underwood.

  • Hathersage - Day 1

    Mon 17 Oct 2016

All is quiet at St. Michael's Centre! The children are in bed following a very exciting day. We arrived safe and well and the first task was to make the beds - always a very interesting sight! This afternoon we followed the village trail, spotting the mill, the viaduct and the open air swimming pool (people were swimming in it!).

For tea, we had lasagne and garlic bread followed by sticky toffee pudding.

Tonight we went on a night walk with our torches which was very exciting and then it was off to bed.

More news tomorrow night. Good night, Underwood.

  • Harvest Festival Gifts

    Mon 03 Oct 2016

A big thank you to the children and parents who donated food at our Harvest Festival Service. The children and staff led a lovely service of thanksgiving and the gifts will now be passed on to Framework.

Thank you also to Reverend Anna who supported the service - it was Reverend Anna's last service with our school so we wish her all the best as she moves to her new role in another part of our county.
